Why isn't my fan working properly?
If your fan will not turn on or does not operate properly, will need specifics in order to help you better diagnose the issue.
- What model fan are you working on?
- Does the fan run at all? If so, will it only run up to a certain speed?
- Is there a fault code on the touchscreen or VFD? If so, what is it?
- Does the touchscreen light up, or is it not powering on?
The Help Center contains individual articles for many issues, but if you are not able to find an article for your particular issue, please start a support ticket here or call us at (866)668-3247 option 2.
How do I order a new replacement part for my fan, such as a blade, VFD, or motor?

Why is my fan spinning backwards when the remote is set to forward?
If a fan is running in the reverse (clockwise) rotation when the forward(counter-clockwise) button is selected (and vice versa), your motor is wired out of phase. Two leads need to be swapped on the OUTPUT side of the drive in order to reverse rotation; you cannot swap two leads of the incoming power.
Your motor cable leads are not labeled. Will the equipment be damaged if I hook them up in the wrong order?
The worst that will happen if leads 1, 2, and 3 from the VFD are not landed in the correct order on leads 1, 2, and 3 on the motor is that the motor will spin in the reverse rotation. Swapping two of the leads will reverse this rotation. Mixing up these leads will not damage any equipment as long as everything else is wired correctly.
My fan looks like it is running too slow. What's going on?
If you are running your fan in the reverse direction, MacroAir limits the speed of the reverse function to 50% compared to the forward direction and older remotes. This was done for efficiency and motor longevity reasons, as the increase in speed in reverse past 50% did not result in a favorable increase in performance versus energy used.
If you are not running your fan in reverse or suspect that you have another speed-related issue, verify the proper RPM the fan should be running by using the spec sheets for your fan model located here. If the fan does not appear to be spinning the proper speed, please start a support ticket here or call us at (866)668-3247 option 2 so that our Technical Support personnel can verify the issue and get you up and running 100%.
