What is the maximum length of remote cable/CAT5?
- Standard Touchscreen: 200' maximum CAT5 length from the touchscreen to the control panel (current models, older models may differ)
- Controller 4: 200' maximum length from the Controller 4 to the first fan, 4000' total network length without a repeater
- Controller 30: 4000' total network length without a repeater
- AirLynk: 4000' total network length without a repeater
- Analog Remote: 600' from the remote to the control panel
A full list of MacroAir CAT5 requirements can be found here.
Can the standard touchpad remote run more than one fan?
The standard remote can only control a single fan. You will need either a Controller 30 or Controller 4 to control more than one fan from the same touchscreen interface.
Are your controllers weather-proof?
The rating of each controller is as follows:
- Standard Touchscreen/Controller 4: IP 40 (front only)
- Controller 30/Dual Control: IP 66 (ensure any unused glands on the bottom are plugged to maintain the IP rating)
- AirLynk/Local Override Panels: IP 20
- Analog Remote: IP 65
- AirLite Remote Panel: NEMA4X
Can you fans be controlled by a Building Management/Automation system (BMS/BAS)?
Most MacroAir HVLS fan models can communicate with a BMS/BAS through the use of our AirLynk. Further information on the AirLynk can be found here.
What Building Management System (BMS) protocols does the AirLynk support?
The AirLynk supports Modbus TCP/IP, Modbus RTU, Bacnet IP, and Bacnet MSTP. Please refer to the AirLynk manual here for instructions on setting up the AirLynk for your chosen protocol.
Can I run my fans from a Building Management System (BMS) in conjunction with standard touchscreens/Controller 4s/Controller 30s?
Standard touchscreens, Controller 4s, and Controller 30s are standalone products and cannot interface with a BMS. If you want to interface our fans with a BMS and have a single local controller, the Dual Control is the option for you. If you want to interface our fans with a BMS and have a separate control per fan, the local override option is your best bet. More details for every control option and fan compatibility can be found here.
What is the password on the Controller 30?
The default username and password are both "admin", all lower-case.
Why aren't any fans showing up on my controller or AirLynk?
There are a number of reasons why fans may not show up on a network controller. Ensure that your network controller is properly set up per the instructions in the installation manual (install manuals can be found here). If you have followed all manual instructions and still experience issues, you will need to troubleshoot the network using the steps outlined here to determine where the issue lies.
Can we control our fans wirelessly?
Our HVLS fan drives communicate using Modbus, which is difficult to set up and use for complex wireless networks. We are exploring wireless options and hope to have a solution available in the future.
The Lincoln Street fan comes standard with a wireless remote.
Can you wire a timer to the fans on digital controllers? On the same note, wiring it to the thermostat to act as a "heat sensor"?
The standard digital controller cannot be wired to a timer or thermostat to turn the fan on and off at certain times or temperatures. To accomplish this, you will want a Controller 4 with the MacroAir temperature sensor option, which will turn the fans on and off automatically once the specified temperature or humidity setpoint is reached.
I am doing a startup on your fan and the digital remote said I need to call 866-668-3247 to obtain a passcode?
The advanced password-protected features should not be necessary in a standard fan installation. You may have accidentally pressed an unintended button. Follow the standard setup instructions in the installation manual or reach out to us at (866)668-3247 option 2 so that our Technical Support personnel can verify what is happening.
