When discussing the outdoor rating of a fan, there are several different components to consider. It is best to consult the specification sheets here for the NEMA/IP ratings. Please speak to our sales team prior to installing any of our products outdoors so that they can help verify what is needed for your particular application.
Fan Motor Unit: Some fan motors can be mounted outdoors as long as they are not exposed to direct weather conditions, while others can be exposed to a certain amount of water if the appropriate upgrade packages are purchased (such as stainless steel hardware).
VFD Control Panel: The standard VFD control panel cannot be mounted outdoors or exposed to water. The NEMA4X control panel upgrade is available for several of our fan lines.
Remote: The standard touchscreen cannot be mounted outdoors or exposed to water. Other remote options, such as the Controller 30, are better rated for water and dust. The remote ratings can be found on the fan specification sheets and in this article.
