To utilize the fire alarm feature on our current fan lines, you will want to tie your normally-closed relay into the orange and orange/white wires of the CAT5. This is typically done at the ground level.
For standard remotes and Controller 4s, the orange and orange/white wires are heat-shrinked together inside the remote enclosure. You can separate the orange and orange/white wires and land the wires from your normally-closed relay here.
For Controller 30, the CAT5 jacketing will need to be stripped back to reveal the orange and orange/white wires. You will then need to strip those wires and land the wires from your normally-closed relay here.
For AirLynk, there is a terminal block on the outside of the AirLynk panel that has a jumper on it. Remove the jumper and land the wires from your normally-closed relay here.
Alternatively, wires from a normally-closed relay can also be landed directly on the VFD terminals after removing the orange and orange/white wires from the terminals, but we would recommend using one of the above methods instead unless you are using a 0-10V analog remote rather than one of the above remote options.
The fire alarm can be daisy chained so that multiple fans can be shut off from a single relay. Please reference national and local electric codes to ensure compliance in regards to relays and wiring requirements.
For applications containing a mix of different fan ages or models, please call us at (866)668-3247 so that we can gather more information to determine the best fire alarm wiring method, as you may experience issues when trying to daisy chain a fire alarm between fans that are not identical.
