It is important to understand the difference between the terms drop length and extension length. The drop length is the total distance between the top of the mount and the bottom of the blades. The extension length is the length of the tube itself. The drop length takes the height of the motor and mount into account to ensure that your fans hang at the specified level. For example, the standard 8'-18' AVDX drop length is 35.5", which uses a 13" extension tube. Below is a drawing which illustrates the difference.
